Baby steps in the wood...

Hi,

Welcome to this tentative blog. It’s not something I set out to do but having read http://cadiascreed40k.blogspot.co.uk for quite some time as well as having a wandering eye for the wood elves (I caved and bought them recently – why does an autumn themed army look so good in my head!?!?), I thought it might be a good way of tracking my progress, getting tips, constructive criticism and a bit of wood elf chat. I can even warn some poor souls over my tactical follies if I finally finish painting and get to playing.

At the moment I am new back into the hobby really and I am struggling through painting a horde of Imperial guardsmen, the wood elves are something different intended as a treat for getting through some more guardsmen. I am already planning a 500 point force as well as acquiring the army book. A bid has been placed on ebay for magic cards (the limited magic cards is a bit frustrating!) so by the time of publishing this I could be the proud owner of Wood elf magic and no spellcaster…. (pipped at the post by 50pence, a pestilence on ebay for foiling my winds of magic already, it doesnt bode well so far!)

Over the next wee while if I stick to this project I will update the blog with my progress, or lack thereof, with the wood elf host. I love the autumn colour scheme and hope that I can do it some justice. This is my first paint tester for the wood elf theme, base coated with a wash over the top to bring the colours together. I had some tips from a local painter about using the wash to draw the colours together and it has toned down the orange nicely. I am swithering between base painting the whole glade guard unit like this or pressing on to finish this model completely and be sure of my colours first.

If anyone reads this and has an inclination to make some suggestions please fire on, I’d be chuffed to hear from you.
