Well day 4 of blogging and since the blog needs content (honestly, it was the only reason), I felt obliged to go out and acquire a couple things at the local GW store...
Unfortunately the local manager is moving to another store which is really great for him but I think I’ll enjoy going in a lot less as he will be hard to replace. Makes a big difference having someone that can bring you into the hobby and is relaxed and approachable. I remember as a kid struggling to stay in the GW store in Aberdeen since they were so loud. Anywho – I bought the army book and spellweaver/singer to read up on what I am going to be talking to you about and for my first Independant character in the host. I will use the mage for another gaming system which some friends are looking to get me playing, I think that no one wants to be the mage and they need one badly in their quests.
I am looking to paint this mage with the same autumn theme I intend for my army. If anyone reading has a great picture or idea for a warm orange/brown/red scheme for this model please pipe up in the comments and chat about it. I expect it will take me a while to paint as it has taken some time to base coat and wash two glade guard. I started numbers 3 and 4 and intend to have a unit of 12 in my initial list.
One other thing that I struggle with is that i have a small hand drill however it doesn’t seem to be able to hold the small drill heads that we use on models. I am looking to pin an imperial guard commisar to some cork for a nice base but am square wheeled until I can use the drill. I intend to magnetise a taurox and valkyrie (love the Valk model!!) so I may feature that in a less wood elfy post once I get it going. The guard should be taking up my time to get them ready for an armageddon themed game but there are only so many guardsmen you can paint! I didn’t want to start a horde army in Fantasy after playing guard in 40k.
If there are any units in the wood elf list that you would like to see me start on after the first glad guard unit, please feel free to comment and suggest some. At the end of the month I expect I will get another wood elf unit to try and reach the 500 point mark.
Happy hobbying folks, I’m off to paint more glade guard…
